getting into MS/HS coaching as a volunteer?

hi everyone! apologies if this is a bit off topic.
I'm toying with the idea of trying to coach football. Not seeking a paid position; just want to be involved with the game again. Not a football expert, a technique expert, anything like that. Just a responsible adult who can show up on time, follow directions, and is willing to learn.
My question is, what would be an effective way of finding a staff? I'm thinking I'll just find the local high school coach on LinkedIn and ask if he or his feeder programs need help anywhere?
Other info that might or might not be relevant:
- i live in austin texas. i don't know other coaches in the area.
- i coached football for one year maybe 12 years ago in washington dc. o-line/d0line for 7th and 8th graders. It was a great experience, but my career took me out of the area.
- more recently, I coached other sports in Virginia. Basketball, baseball, volleyball, lacrosse. My old AD would be happy to provide a reference.
- i got the USA Football Tackle Coach Certification this time last year.
- 20 years ago, I was a very mediocre offensive lineman in high school. Also played a few seasons of "semi pro"/amateur tackle as an adult. Mostly at center but a bit of everything.
I think something with offensive/defensive line with a middle school or JV team would the best fit, but would be open to anything. Even potentially an administrative/support role if that's something a program would need.

Texas is a different world so maybe I’m wrong, but if you’re just looking to volunteer at the junior high level, I’d just start reaching out to head coaches and athletic directors within comfortable driving distance. As long as your background checks are good I have a hard time believing every program in your area is going to turn down free help.
This is how I got my start and worked my way up to varsity. It’s a lot harder to do that in Texas (I’m from PA), but if you’re just looking to get involved that’s what I’d do. Good luck.
